Our Story
IM Known Studios is an interdisciplinary studio working at the intersection of art, reflection, and public engagement.
We design creative projects and structured programs that help individuals and institutions engage with complex experiences around grief, identity, caregiving, and relational disruption.
Our work lives across galleries, clinics, schools, community spaces, and public forums - transforming storytelling into tools for reflection, dialogue, and meaningful engagement.
Our Mission
To help others be seen, known and restored.
IM Known Studios was founded by artist and creative director Stéphane Alexis, whose early life was shaped by significant medical experiences, long-term caregiving, and navigating spaces where difference was often misunderstood.
These experiences revealed a recurring pattern: people carry emotional weight without structured language or space to engage it thoughtfully.
IM Known Studios exists to create intentional environments where those experiences can be explored with clarity, dignity, and care.
What Guides The Work
The studio is rooted in a Christian worldview shaped by the principle found in Jeremiah 1:5 - that every life carries inherent purpose before recognition, achievement, or visibility.
This belief informs how we approach identity, dignity, and responsibility in our work.
While our foundation is faith-rooted, our practice is collaborative and institution-ready - designed to serve diverse communities with respect, attentiveness, and integrity.
We believe meaningful engagement begins with honest reflection, and that creative spaces can help people encounter their stories with both courage and care.
Selected Partnerships & Features
IM Known Studios has collaborated with and been supported by national arts councils, public institutions, and community organizations across Canada and internationally to design structured creative experiences that support dialogue, insight, and engagement.
